Bio

Dr. Patrick Harvey-Collard is a Research Scientist in the Semiconductor Qubit Technologies group at IBM Research Europe – Zurich. His research focusses on quantum computing with spins in semiconductor devices. He is passionate about developing a scalable spin-qubit architecture, circuit quantum electrodynamics with spins, and semiconductor device fabrication.

P. Harvey-Collard did his doctoral research at Sandia National Labs (2013-2018) and holds a Ph.D. from Université de Sherbrooke. He is known for his demonstration of coherent coupling between a single donor and a quantum dot, for his studies of spin-orbit interaction in silicon MOS nanodevices, and his high-fidelity spin readout.

Prior to joining IBM, P. Harvey-Collard was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the group of Prof. Lieven Vandersypen at QuTech (Delft, 2018-2021). There, he worked on combining technologies from circuit quantum electrodynamics and silicon spin qubits. He demonstrated coherent hybridization of two spins via virtual microwave photons, and photon-number spin splitting.

For his M.Sc. degree at Université de Sherbrooke, P. Harvey-Collard developed a novel approach to tunnel field effect transistor fabrication using chemical/mechanical polishing.
