Operation of a ruby laser in the purely transverse electric mode TE ₀₁

A ruby laser has been operated in the circular TE01 mode by means of a novel mode selector. Construction, output characteristics, conversion into TM01, and possible applications are described. © 1972 The American Institute of Physics.
