Merry Christma: An early network worm

View publication

Abstract

The affects of Merry Christma, a computer virus on the global networking environment are discussed. The network worm spread rapidly through mainframe computers connected to worldwide networks. The worm spread into IBM, one of the most heavily networked environments and clogged its network, that resulted in offline networks. It is suggested that an anti-virus software should be developed to prevent the virus attack on user's PCs, file servers, mail servers and Internet service providers (ISP).
