Contents-independent EPSS for the Web site

Abstract

EPSS is an Electronic Performance Support System that provides its users with on-demand access to information for the purpose of job performance improvement. We propose a framework for development of a "content-independent EPSS" on the Web, called WebAttendant. This EPSS service is built independent of Web content, in contrast to "built-in EPSS" built as part of the Web content. WebAttendant tracks and analyzes a user's Web operation behavior, and gives him individual instructions, according to a set of rules, in the form of helpful interventions. Since WebAttendant develops a content-independent EPSS, it can manage each process independent of the Web site, and the EPSS service can be re-used or added to the existing Web content without changing the content itself. We have conduct experiments to verify the efficacy of WebAttendant's EPSS service. Experiments show that WebAttendant is highly effective as a platform for content-independent EPSS on the Web.
