Inorganic Chemistry
This article describes an entirely new class of electrically active materials, conducting polymers, and explores the preparation, properties, and potential applications for these Interesting new materials. The principal focus Is on conducting polymers obtained by chemical or electrochemical modification of Insulating polymers such as polyacetylene, polypyrrole, polyphenylene and polyphenylene sulfide. The intrinsically conducting poly(sulfurnltride) is also Included. Applications, problems, and future opportunities for the utilization of conducting polymeric materials are outlined. © 1982, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
