Lars Graf

Lars Graf is a researcher in the AI Platform Team at IBM Research – Zurich and a PhD candidate at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich under the supervision of Prof. Giacomo Indiveri. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from ETH Zurich.

His research centers on bio-inspired sequence learning, developing novel neural network architectures that can serve as foundation models for sequential data such as time series or natural language. Combining expertise in deep learning, electrical engineering, and the dynamics of biological neural systems, Lars aims to design intelligent systems grounded in biological principles. His work seeks to advance understanding of how complex intelligence emerges in neural circuits and translate these insights into building more powerful, safe, and efficient artificial neural networks.
