Web-based searching and browsing of multimedia data

Abstract

The Web-based searching and browsing of multimedia data was analyzed. MediaCentral is an extensible architecture for summarizing and browsing common forms of multimedia data, and gives the user a choice of search methods, viewing speed and browsing options. The small visual elements were generated and then used as building blocks for construction of animated or quick preview summaries. These were combined with the text and content-based retrieval techniques, which enabled the user to search and browse data that was earlier available only through specific players and through slower methods.
