Session management in broadcast networks with dynamic addresses
Abstract
The method of dynamically assigned addresses is an alternative to the traditional method of preassigned addresses. The dynamic approach requires protocols for assigning/unassigning addresses, along with some kind of mechanism which distributes information about assigned/unassigned addresses to network stations and manages sessions between stations. In the present work we investigate the second issue in relation to broadcast networks, present a possible model for address distribution, define the properties required for correct operation and prove that our proposed protocol fulfills these properties.
