Abstract
The frequencies of the Raman active A1g and E12g phonon modes of 2H-MoS2 have been measured as a function of applied hydrostatic pressure from atmospheric pressure to 50 kbar, using an opposed diamond anvil pressure cell. An approximately linear relationship is found for both modes. The pressure coefficient of the A1g mode (+0.37 cm-1 kbar-1) is nearly twice that of the E12g mode (+0.18 cm-1 kbar-1). The results will be discussed in terms of a simple force constant model. © 1980.
