Passive and active silicon nanophotonic circuits

We will review results on nanophotonic circuits based on photonic crystals and photonic wires. Strong light confinement permits dramatic scaling of the active device area below 100??m2 with reduced operation power and increased efficiency. © 2004 Optical Society of America.
