PACKET SWITCHING IN N LOG N MULTISTAGE NETWORKS.
Abstract
The authors survey the research on packet switched N log N multistage interconnection networks used for the interconnection of multiple processors and memories. Some possible communications switching applications of these networks are briefly discussed. The emphasis is on the use of packet switching techniques to obtain high network throughput, small (but statistical) delays, simple distributed control, fault tolerance, and growth capabilities.
