Multilayered films, 1200 Å thick, consisting of bilayers of 30 Å Gd/30 Å Y, were magnetron sputtered and their transport properties compared with Gd films. While the Gd films show parabolic reversible magnetoresistance, the layered samples show hysterectic magnetoresistance, with a coercive field of 350 Oe and sizeable remanence. We find no evidence for antiferromagnetic coupling between the Gd layers. © 1990.
