Magnetic and magneto-optical properties of Nd-Tb-Fe-Co vertically magnetized films
Abstract
A systematic study of magnetic and magneto-optical properties of Nd-Tb-Fe-Co films has been performed. It was found that substituting part of the Nd content with Tb is useful for improving the squareness of magnetization curves and also increases the easy axis coercivity. However, the effect of the Tb addition is to reduce the Kerr rotation angle θk at wavelength shorter than 500 nm. The temperature dependence of the coercivity obtained in fields up to 150 kOe indicates that the single ion model cannot fully account for the perpendicular anisotropy in a Nd-Fe-Co alloy system. © 1988 IEEE
