An asymmetrical tilt boundary was fabricated in gold by joining a {100} single crystal to a {111} single crystal with a 〈110〉 direction as nearly as possible common to both crystals. The interaction of a lattice dislocation with one of many line defects in the boundary suggests that crystal lattice dislocations have a role in the accommodation of misorientation and strain in this boundary. © 1989.
