Dielectric constant of a localized hole on a one-dimensional interrupted strand: magnus green salt
Abstract
The dielectric constant of a localized hole on a one-dimensional interrupted strand is calculated. It is pointed out that the dielectric constant of hole-doped Magnus Green salt (MGS) is small since the holes on the platinum chains are bound to interstitial halide ions. These results are confirmed by dielectric constant measurements reported herein. It is also shown that if such hole-halide interaction was reduced due to the screening of this interaction by the presence of polarizable molecular groups, one should expect an enhancement of the dielectric constant, as is experimentally observed in metal chain salt systems such as K2 Pt(CN)4Br0.3·3H2O. © 1976.
