The results of the non-linear Poisson-Boltzmann approximation for the internal energy and radial distribution functions for a charged hard-sphere model of an electrolyte are compared with Monte Carlo results. At low concentrations (≲0.05 mol dm-3) the non-linear Poisson-Boltzmann approximation is as accurate as the hypernetted-chain approximation.
