Antiferromagnetically coupled media performance
Abstract
Performance of antiferromagnetically coupled (AFC) media was studied in comparison to conventional media. AFC media showed improved magnetic recording properties which were affected by the microstructure of the film. Desirable microstructural features of AFC media were found to be (11.0) texture, small underlayer grain size and low dispersion of the crystallographic texture.
