A quantum computational approach to linear magnetohydrodynamic stability analysis
Abstract
Plasma dynamics is difficult to simulate. Can quantum computers solve certain problems more efficiently? Binary-output and linear problems are likely more amenable to quantum computers. Are there such problems in plasma physics? Yes: linear MHD stability. Can we develop a quantum algorithm that efficiently characterizes the linear stability of MHD equilibria?
