A comparison of an electron-beam-induced chemical reaction at T = 10 K and T = 300 K

Abstract

An in-situ spectroscopic analysis of an electron-beam-induced chemical reaction, at T = 10 and 300 K, is reported. The results indicate that the damage cross-section at 10 K is 2.5 times smaller than at 300 K. Calculations are presented to support that electron beam heating of the sample is negligible and that the small decrease in damage is most likely due to a temperature-dependent radiation-physical process. © 1985 Elsevier Science Publishers B.V.
